Stay Close to All the Great Things to Do in Charleston

We're Half a Block from the Free Charleston Trolley
In addition to being within walking distance of many Charleston attractions, we're also just half a block from the stop for the free Charleston trolley—the Downtown Area Shuttle (DASH)—so getting around town while you stay with us is a snap. The Charleston trolley is a hop-on, hop-off style trolley that will pick you up and drop you off at various stops around the historic district of the city.

Charleston Waterfront Park
The Charleston Waterfront Park is within walking distance of The Anchorage Inn, and features spacious, verdant lawns, extravagant fountains, lovely views of the Charleston harbor, and plenty of pretty benches on which to rest and take in all the scenery. There are also paved walking paths and swings, and at night, the fountains light up, creating the perfect setting for a romantic walk.
South Carolina Aquarium
Located a mile from The Anchorage Inn, the South Carolina Aquarium offers fascinating exhibits like their Madagascar Journey, with its lemurs, tomato frogs, white-spotted bamboo sharks and Nile crocodiles. Other exhibits include habitats like the Saltmarch Aviary, the Coastal Plain and a Touch Tank, where you can touch sea urchins, Atlantic stingrays, hermit crabs and other invertebrates.
The Battery & White Point Garden
A Charleston landmark, The Battery is a seawall and walkway along the shore of the Charleston peninsula, and is famous the antebellum homes that line it. The Battery also offers excellent views of Fort Sumter and Charleston Harbor, and is home to historic cannons and mortars. Along part of The Battery, White Point Garden is a pretty park perfect for picnics, with its large oak trees and bandstand.
Charleston Harbor Tours
Located less than a mile from our hotel, Charleston Harbor Tours takes you on narrated sightseeing boat tours of the harbor. They also offer dinner cruises and live entertainment cruises.
Firefly Distillery
The first and largest distillery in South Carolina, the Firefly Distillery is located on Wadmalaw Island, about 30 miles south of Charleston, and is the birthplace of the original sweet tea vodka—Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka. They also make peach, mint, raspberry and lemon tea vodkas, among other flavors.
Fort Sumter
Fort Sumter, the historical site where the first shots of the Civil War were fired, is a sea fort in Charleston Harbor. Visitors can tour the fort and learn about how the fort was used at the Fort Sumter Visitor Education Center.
Fort Moultrie
Located on Sullivan's Island, Fort Moultrie is the site of the first patriot victory over the British. Now restored, visitors can tour the fort to learn about its history.
Charleston Tea Plantation
Charleston is home to several plantations, such as the Charleston Tea Plantation, the country's only tea garden, which stretches over 127 beautiful acres of Camellia Sinensis tea plants. While you're there, tour the factory, ride a trolley through the tea fields, and then visit the gift shop to sample some freshly brewed tea.
